Come and melt into the warmth of bolsters, blankets and candles for an evening of Restorative yoga and Yoga nidra meditation. We’ll let go, dive in and come out rested and restored. Deeply relaxing and rejuvenating, both Restorative asana and Yoga nidra open the door to the power of listening. They help calm an overworked nervous system from exhaustion and overwhelm. Restorative yoga allows the whole body to breathe, ease and be nurtured through settling and releasing into piles of bolsters. Yoga nidra then requires us to lie down in comfort, and be taken on a guided meditation to inquire into our own internal mystery across all states of consciousness (waking & sleeping).
"That was incredible! The first time I've ever switched off like that. Thank you so much xx" Kaori

Every part of our body moves in spirals, and is a spiral. For this workshop we will be pausing to be within our skeleton, where every one of our bones is a spiral. We will explore how it is to move from the simplicity, beauty and perfection of our design. Come and join me to dip our toes into our bones and listen to what they have to tell us.
This will be a three-hour workshop followed by some soup for us to gather around.
Thank you Aki Omori for introducing me to my bones ... and so much more.

In this six-session course of yoga nidra we will be exploring one layer of our being at a time. Many of you have experienced yoga nidra through Big Relaxes and some of you may be interested in taking it a little further. This course will support you in creating a working space for a deep enquiry. We will be exploring our heartfelt desire, our inner resource, our body awareness, our breath work, our emotions, feelings, thought patterns and pure awareness. This course will give you an opportunity to explore this form of meditation, for you to truly meet yourself where you are at.
You will leave with a manual, and a recording of each practice. Either so you can repeat the practice between sessions, or to catch up of one session is missed. I will also hold a one hour private session on the telephone or skype for each participant for a personal catch up and meditation at some point during the course. This form of yoga nidra is a powerful tool that can support us to finding our peace, health and resiliency within our body and our life. Our deep rest.

January is the dawn of a new year, a fresh page. Some people are able to take the bull by the horns & start new resolutions easily. For others of us, this new dawn can be challenging, & would just like to hibernate. I’d like to invite you to delay your hibernation for just a few more days, & come & set your intentions for the year through a few days of early morning practice.
I have run these weeks in the summer before, when the mornings are light and warm. This is being offered following a student request, so I am testing the waters. We will either run it Monday to Friday (£50), or Friday to Sunday (30), whichever is more possible for those who would like to join us.
The week starts with a yoga asana practice, which is repeated each day. As the week progresses you will be given more and more space to develop it into your own, taking inspiration from what your body is asking for. If we do the five day option, by the last day we will together start our practice through a meditation, and finish in Savasana, the rest is yours. I will be there to guide, support and adjust each and everyone of you.
All levels are welcome, whether your motivation is to enjoy a daily yoga practice for a week, or to develop a practice of your own. I promise you will be completely held throughout. Over the past two years these weeks have held my most treasured teaching moments. It is beautiful to watch a daily class and practice unfurl. I would love to offer this special week again.

Many of us have developed a personal ritual in that beautiful moment at the beginning of the day. Between sleep and our day. This could be a cuppa, a walk, or a deep breath. It can sometimes be a negative moment where the mind whirls with thoughts. The idea of creating a yoga self practice to use this moment of stillness to influence the rest of our day can be daunting.
If you would just like to enjoy a daily yoga practice for a week, or are seeking to develop a practice of your own, do come and join us. The week will start with a yoga asana practice, which will be repeated throughout the week. As the week progresses you will be given more and more space to develop it into your own, taking inspiration from what your body is asking for. By the last day we will together start our practice through a meditation, and finish in Savasana, the rest is yours. I will be there to guide, support and adjust each and everyone of you. Last year this was a huge success. It would be lovely to do it again.
These weeks hold my most treasured teaching moments. It is beautiful to watch a daily class and practice unfurl. I would love to offer this special week yet again.
"I feel I’ve gained a little more knowledge of my own body as a whole and know I will go back if Alice were to offer the self practice week in the future as a reminder and also to develop my practice even deeper. Thank you Alice for your openness and assisting me to listen to my body." Nicola
I thought I would find the early mornings difficult but loved it. As a start to the day I can’t recommend it enough. Alice was supportive, clear, helpful and encouraging..." Sue
"A week of self practice allowed me to realise the subtler and slower the movement, the greater I connected to my body and myself... Being in a room with everyone moving at different times in their own practice was a beautiful and powerful experience." Rebecca

Summer solstice, the longest day of the year, has the slowest of sunrises. It is a moment that fills souls with golden light, stillness and inner calm. A moment that stays deep within. A moment of magic. So come and wrap up warm for some yoga and meditation in this golden light. Let's return to one of my favourite yoga gatherings of the year.
We are going to return to West Runton beach for our sunrise summer solstice yoga as it provides sand, cliff shelter and a perfect sunrise view. The sunrise is at 4.31am, so if you would like to go earlier to be with the sun as it pops over the horizon you are welcome. However we start at 5am, as a slightly later time makes the morning a little more accessible. The sun will still be low.
Please let me know if you would like to come. Details of what to bring and where to meet will be sent out the week before when we know the weather conditions, and payment will be requested at this point. And do bring your swimmers if you would like a solstice dip afterwards.
"It was a really amazing experience." Lynn

We all have a constant warmth inside us. Through life we are sometimes stoking our fire, sometimes sitting back and simply enjoying our warm embers, and other times allowing ashes to dampen the heat in moments of tiredness. Like seasons our fire comes in cycles. During these yoga retreats we can enjoy the warmth of movement, breath and being together.
"I arrived feeling worn out and exhausted and left feeling absolutely restored. Your house is a very special place - it feels like it supports everything you do in just the right way - and I love what you do. Your approach to yoga is so subtle yet powerful - and a lesson in letting go of striving... All the care and attention to detail is so lovely and I'm sure we all felt nurtured and loved - not to mention the amazing food! I loved making the mandala ... acknowledging the season - beautiful." Alison

Alice and Gemma have a wonderful approach to focusing, twisting, movement and relaxing, so much so that when the session finishes I have grown and have to higher my rear view mirror in my car - shades of Alice in Wonderland. The setting for the workshop is in Oulton Church and the stillness and light of this building adds to the experience." Sue

Bring the senses to life & nourish body and soul with a day of yoga in a wonderful woodland setting
with Alice Martineau and Gemma Galey-Jones.
Sunday 21st June 2015, 10.00am - 4.30pm
During this solstice day you are invited to unite body and breath with a grounding vinyasa flow sequence and to experience the inner warmth of pranayama. We also rediscover the gentle hum of the natural woodland, find comfort in releasing ourselves into the earth, and be guided into the mindful stillness of nature.
To practice yoga in to practice inner awareness. The aim is physical and mental alignment through the practice of postures called asana, breath control known as pranayama and meditation, moving or still.
“I feel nurtured both inside and out, fully immersed in nature and the elements which a lovely bunch of people. Taking time to 'be' with all the senses coming alive - what a fabulous way to spend the glorious summer solstice! I particularly loved the session around the tree - I'll be eyeing up the natural 'partners' during my next woodland walk! Awesome, in the true sense of the word...” Clare
“Thank you both for all your preparation, time, wonderful planning and delicious nourishing food. Every aspect of our care was accommodated, and more. This was a much needed, truly magical and restorative. To share the solstice with such a beautiful group, with wonderful energy in an awesome setting was unforgettable. I would not hesitate to join you again for another magical day if I am in the country. I wish you both all and luck in the world on your continuing yoga journeys.” Janet
“The woods were just such a magical place to spend the solstice and what a wonderful energy everyone created, in particular the two of you. I lost myself a little in the chant and there was something incredibly special about chanting in a clearing, feeling our vibrations mix with natures.
And oh mine eyes the food. It was SO delicious, every mouthful, and absolutely beautiful to look at. Thank you from the bottom of my tummy. What a wonderful place to sit and eat, and what an amazing group of people you brought together to share it. I just could not have been happier than at lunchtime and then... Tea time!
Thank you a million more times for having me along to share in such a magical day.” Rose
